Waterford’s most listened-to local radio station, WLRFM, is one of the many businesses that has benefitted from 3’s Business Sharer Price Plans. WLR already had a good relationship with 3 as the company advertises with WLR. When 3’s business manager approached WLR, the station was happy to cement the relationship.

3’s business proposal featured a price offering that was more competitive than any other operator in the market, but it was 3’s high level of coverage that swayed WLRFM’s Chief Executive, Des Whelan. “I have a business which is running 24 hours a day, seven days a week and I like 3’s coverage, because it allows me to stay in touch with work.”

The savings for WLR have been significant since they signed up to the Business Sharer Plan. It can save several hundred euro a month and Des Whelan believes this adds up to €5-6,000 a year.

WLR is always keen to support local entrepreneurship and 3’s overall manager is from Waterford, so loyalty was a major factor in their decision to change. “We like to be loyal to local people and to be supportive. 3 offer a good service and better price, so it was hard not to go with them.”

WLR hopes to continue to avail of 3’s advanced technology solutions in the future to provide an enhanced outside-broadcasting service to its listeners. Des Whelan is confident that 3 will be able to supply the necessary bandwith in the future to make that dream a reality.

“Currently, we are doing 100 live outside broadcasts a year through fixed lines. 3 are very go-ahead in the area of technology and we feel that they may be able to deliver technology-wise.”
